Val Rugel“This home is spectacular! The views are to die for. Great location. Everything you could need is there. This was our second Christmas there to ski at Lutsen as well as hiking, snowmobiling and ice fishing. Will definitely visit again.”

Everything about it was perfect.

Fletch F Fletch“Great place! Everything about it was perfect. Came up to ice fish with my son since his senior trip got canceled. We caught fish all day every day and he caught his fist walleye ever (a very nice one!). Doesn’t get any better than hearing “this was the best trip ever, dad” from your 18 year old son. We will definitely be back!”

We have been coming to Loon Lodge for 13 years now and twice each year for the past 5. I always have photos on my phone so I can recommend it to friends. So to anyone who has not been to Loon Lodge, I highly recommend you try. Also, fishing is Awesome!!! “

Q: Who owns & manages Loon Lodge?
A: Loon Lodge is owned by me, Rick Storlie. I’ve got two kids and I’m originally from Northfield. I currently reside in Savage, MN. I purchased Loon Lodge in 2005 because of its potential.
Loon Lodge was built in 1995, is situated on a gorgeous Leech Lake homesite and has a nice “split bedroom” layout. When I purchased the home it didn’t feel like a cabin at all. Over a 3 year period from 2006 – 2009 I completely remodeled the home, inside and out.
I added log siding, new light fixtures, air conditioning, log railings, wood floors, tile floors, new paint and carpet, door/cabinet hardware and plumbing fixtures. My most recent project was converting two unused rooms in the lower level into one large crafting area. I removed a couple of walls, painted all the walls and added light fixtures plus a new work bench.
Q: What type of vacation activities do guests partake?
A: Our primary vacationers that visit are families and fisherman. We are booked pretty solid from walleye fishing opener in early May until about the 3rd week in October. From November – April we get some ice fishing groups, girls get-a-way, etc.
Other activities include scrapbooking/crafting using our craft room, boating on Leech Lake, shopping in Walker and trying your luck at the casino. Hunting in the fall is popular along with a trek to the Mississippi headwaters in Itasca State Park.
If you want to get away with 4 or 5 of your friends for a peaceful crafting retreat close to a cute-as-can-be northern MN town, you’ve found what you’ve been looking for!
Q: How does your booking process work?
A: You can call or email me for a quote or use the Book Now function to calculate your rates and book right away. I’ll confirm your reservation within 24 hours. 50% of your rental fee is due to hold your dates with the balance due 30 days before you arrive.
Q: What if I have to cancel?
A: Cancellations more than 60 days prior to arrival receive 90% of deposited funds less a $50 processing fee. Cancellations less than 60 days prior to arrival I will make every attempt to re-book the dates. If I can, you’ll receive 90% of your deposited funds or 90% of the amount I was able to re-book at, whichever is the lower amount, less a $50 processing fee.
Q: How many people can comfortably sleep here?
A: Groups of 2 – 8. We open/close bedrooms and bathrooms based on a group’s size. This allows me to keep rates lower for smaller groups of 3 or less. Summer weeks always have access to the entire home.
Q: What is your crafting set up like?
A: We have a separate room in our lower level with a small window to the lake. The room is approximately 11′ deep X 23’6″ wide.
There are two sets of three Hon desks and Steelcraft chairs- totaling 6 work stations. Each station is lit by 5 lights directly overhead. The desk sizes range from 36 – 60″ wide by 24 – 29″ deep. There are two outlets at each station. A supplemental heater is provided to use in the winter.
We have a separate standing work station just outside of the crafting room to store your supplies and equipment. A bathroom is conveniently located just outside the craft room.
